Why You're Awesome or Awful at Planning Use the 5 Elements to Discover Personal Strengths and Weaknesses
Is planning a strong suit of yours?
Some people come by this ability naturally, while for others it's a struggle.
What gives? Is it how we grew up? Or maybe the personalities we've spent the most time around?
I'd say it's a little of both PLUS your own element, or personality type in Chinese medicine!
(What's your element? Find out here.)
The 5 elements, wood, fire, earth, metal, and water, make up our natural world as well as core parts of our personalities.
Everyone has access to all of the elements, but we tend to be dominant in one or two.
Understanding your elements can give you incredible insight into your daily behavior, relationships, and world view.
Today, we'll take a look at how these personality types stack up in their ability to plan.
The BEST Way to Detox (HINT: It’s Not a Cleanse or Supplement) Discover The Simplest and Most Effective Methods to Support Your Body's Natural Processes
This time of year everywhere you turn a corner, be it in the grocery store or on the internet (there are corners on the internet, right? This analogy works...) you hear something about detoxification.
It’s spring, and we're all wanting to shake off the winter and feel renewed and refreshed.
That's awesome.
But I have to tell you, I am NOT a fan of the way most people go about trying to detoxify their body.
They pick up a box that says something about "Feel Renewed!" or "30 Day Cleanse to a New You!" and that comes with a liver tea and some bentonite clay or GI supplements.
This is a great marketing trick, but these things are NOT going to get you lasting or even helpful results.
How the Spring Helps Us Change Our Lives and Grow Into Ourselves Find Out What the Natural World Can Tell You about Yourself
Most people have positive associations with springtime.
Snow melts, the air warms, flowers bloom, plants sprout, and the wind whips through the landscape, pushing the last heavy bits of winter off of our doorstep.
Out of any season, spring transforms our environment the most.
Change, growth, and newness are embraced by the land. The inevitable forces of mother nature reshape our world and perspective day by day.
It can be a very gratifying season, in that we see the benefit of our clearing and cleansing work of the fall and storage and preservation in the winter.
If you’re a wood element person*, this is your time of year. What happens in the spring mirrors some of the deepest parts of your personality.
Easy and Perfectly Delicious Cuban Black Beans [Gluten Free, Dairy Free] Let This Nutrient-Dense Dish Make Meal Prep a Breeze
Beans are one of the most underrated foods out there today. The poor little guys get a bad rap.
Everyone knows the childhood (and adult) song about the magical fruit.
But beans are nutritional powerhouses and should be a regular part of our diet. They’re easy to cook, cheap, available everywhere, and pack in protein as well as healthy complex carbohydrates.
They’re incredibly beneficial for our digestive tracts, cardiovascular systems, and they help regulate blood sugar and prevent cancer. Wow.
And this recipe is so low maintenance it will BLOW. YOUR. MIND.
Just like how awesome beans are. Come on, give them a chance, won’t you?
My #1 Recommendation for Better Sleep Relax and Get Sound Sleep with this Easy Habit
Do you have trouble falling asleep, tossing and turning for what seems like hours?
What about waking in the wee hours of the morning and having a hard time getting back to sleep?
According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, about 40 million people in the United States suffer from chronic long-term sleep disorders each year and an additional 20 million people experience occasional sleep problems.
So you're definitely not alone if you're not catching your zzz's.
Though it can feel isolating when your significant other or everyone else in your household or immediate vicinity is passed out for the night and you're the one who's awake.
Then there's the inevitable fatigue that smacks you in the face in the morning and throughout the rest of the day.
In 2014, the National Sleep Foundation discovered that 20%of Americans reported that they did not wake up feeling refreshed on any of the past seven days.
It's time to stop this nonsense and get. more. sleep.
Start feeling refreshed and ready for your days with this super simple tip that will help your sleep.
Why We Should Love Winter and Embrace the Dark and Cold How the Natural World Influences Our Behavior
If you asked 10 people, or even 100, what their favorite season is, I’d be willing to bet summer would grace the top of the list by a wide margin and winter would be in a distant last place.
Why is this? Do we dislike winter SO much?
Most of you are probably nodding your heads right now saying, “Yes, of course I hate it! I’m tired and cold and I never see the sun because it’s down when I leave in the morning and it sets before I get home!”
I hear you.
These issues are very real, as well as the seasonal depression that can hit at this time of year. The cold and dark clouds our vision and can lead to despondency and despair.
But hold on to your hats!
I’d like to throw something out there that’s a little radical.
Are You Getting Enough Water? 8 Glasses a Day Doesn't Work Learn How Much Water You Really Need to Feel Your Best
Are you getting enough water?
How do you even know if you're getting enough??
It's a tricky question with A LOT of (mis)information out there.
8 glasses a day, right? That's the answer?
What if I'm sweating a lot? What if I don't feel thirsty?
Don't coffee and tea hydrate me? I definitely get water from the food that I eat! That counts, right?
Now I'm worried that I drink too much water because I read about over-hydration!
Whoa.
Let's clear some of this up.
Slow Cooker Vegan Paleo Butternut Squash Curry Improve Your Digestion and Decrease Inflammation with this Nutritious Dish
In the fall, I start thinking about rich, thick soups and curries to stave off the chill that’s starting to roll in as the last warmth of summer fades.
I love filling my house with the heady and intoxicating smells of warming spices and pungent herbs. They heat the belly and blood and are naturally supportive through this cooler, darker season.
Many of these delicious spices have awesome anti-inflammatory properties, as well as help digestion.
And the star of this curry, butternut squash, is packed to the gills with super beneficial nutrients and minerals.
It’s the perfect late summer-to-fall recipe built to nourish you with foods of the season, and is wonderful throughout the remaining cold weather months.
